Honestly? This might sound a bit stupid, but the place I'm in now ... or was, until Eudio, it's probably my favourite place.

I wouldn't say stupid. Cheesy, maybe, but it's kind of sweet. I've only ever driven through Virginia, on those seemingly un-ending family vacations. It always seemed really beautiful.

I've only ever lived in Ohio. Flat, boring cow-town Ohio.

I haven't been to Ohio; surely it can't be that terrible.

Have you had no opportunities to travel?

[ Oh - wait. No. There he goes again, assuming things of others like they all have the same means he does. ]

I mean, where would you think to go if you could?

[ Smooth save, maybe? Hopefully? God. ]

I guess it's probably not all bad, but Lima is pretty boring. That's why the first thing everyone wants to do after graduation is get as far away as they can.

We used to travel when I was little, but always inside the US. Road trips to visit family, and the required trip to Disneyworld. Lately it's been more difficult to find the time.

( and, yes, money. )

Anywhere in the world? I've always wanted to see Italy, or Greece.

That seems to be a common ambition. I haven't even graduated yet and I've already left home.

[ But again, most people don't have the means to just take off and find a new place to live, let alone take seven years off to do something on your own.

(Of course his promise to his parents had been to continue and keep up with his studies.) ]

I haven't seen Greece either, but I've traveled through parts of Italy very briefly. It's magnificent.

( okay, so she's mostly just kidding, but of course there's a part of her that means it. she's been dreaming about leaving lima since she was a little girl. )

I've got a little time left before I graduate, but I've started filling out applications already. No such thing as being too prepared.

Yes, of course. Taking preparations is always a smart move. Where do you want to go most?

I was thinking maybe Yale. They've got great drama classes, I think I could do really well there.

I have a tendency to say things wrong sometimes, so I do apologize.

Yale is a wonderful school, I've heard. It's also been on my list for years.

[ Neeeevermind that that list no longer matters to Gansey because what is graduation anyway? Glendower is really all that matters right now. ]

So you're an actress in addition to dancing? I'm afraid my knowledge of both professions is lacking.

I would tell you again that you don't have to, but apologizing when you haven't done anything wrong seems a lot more preferable than people who stubbornly refuse to when they have.

On your list for whenever you decide to finish high school?

( she doesn't know about your life's ambitions, gansey. the name glendower, cabeswater, hell, even aglionby mean absolutely nothing to her. )

I'm not sure if I could actually be referred to as an actress. I've done a total of two school plays, and one of them was a non-speaking role. But ( her entire life has been one big act so she has plenty of experience. ) I think it's something I could do, and do well.
